Is Trump From Sicily?

Trump may not be an Italian name, but he can sure make an offer that can’t be refused.  Irrespective of the disdain for him, primarily embodied in those who are still in denial about the results of a presidential election won almost two years ago, Trump has made his way in the political quagmire of Washington much the same way my relatives forged their paths as young immigrants passing through Ellis island.

The mafia depicted in the Godfather or the organized crime antics of Goodfellas does not characterize all Italians by far.  Nor would I liken Trump to a stereotype of a mob boss.  However, individuals who are focused and hardworking will find a path forward to success much like my family did.  That path included Sunday family dinners before 3:00 pm as well as banding together to manage businesses and investment ventures in what could be deemed a creative corporate culture of compliance and achievement at all cost.  The main difference between them and Trump?  No one dared protest with violence let alone ever ask them to leave a restaurant.  There was respect.
